12月7日,由西安交通大学新闻与新媒体学院与西安交大出版社合作共建的国际传播系正式成立。西安交通大学党委常委、宣传部部长成进,社科处副处长张日鹏,国际合作与交流处副处长孟祥丽,陕西师范大学新闻与传播学院院长许加彪,渭南广播电视台副总编辑高军,西安交通大学新闻与新媒体学院院长兼党总支书记马忠,新闻与新媒体学院学术委员会主任李明德,西安交通大学出版社副总编辑秦茂盛等参加揭牌仪式,并就国际传播系建设规划开展深入研讨。党的二十大报告指出,“加强国际传播能力建设,全面提升国际传播效能,形成同我国综合国力和国际地位相匹配的国际话语权。”高校作为国家形象塑造的重要主体,在推进国际传播能力建设方面具有不可或缺的作用。西安交大新闻与新媒体学院、出版社共建国际传播系将深入学习贯彻习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想,深入贯彻党的二十大精神,传承弘扬西迁精神,坚持“西部特色、国际视野、文理交叉、复合融通”的教育理念,为服务国家国际传播战略和外宣工作大局贡献交大智慧和力量。成进在致辞中表示,加强国际传播能力建设,加快构建具有中国特色的对外传播话语体系,需要广大学者做深、做实,做好国际传播的理论研究,科学把握国际传播规律。国际传播系的成立是响应国家发展战略、把握时代发展脉搏的顺时应势之举,是西安交大主动融入“一带一路”倡议的又一标志性事件。作为连接“一带一路”建设的重要枢纽和中国“向西开放”的战略前沿,西安在面向欧亚大陆的互通互建中担负越来越重要的责任。西安交大弘扬西迁精神、聚焦国家战略,积极打造面向“一带一路”的对外开放新高地。作为“丝绸之路大学联盟”文化出版子联盟的重要学术支撑,国际传播系要秉承立足特色、学科交叉、产教融合,助力学校对外开放和区域性、国际化产教融合协同育人。李明德表示,国际传播系是新闻传播学科发展新的增长点,将为学院专业建设、人才培养、学科优化带来新气象。他对此提出三点期望:一是明确目标、重点突破,确保方向定位准确;二是研究真问题、真研究问题,助力国际传播更精准、更有成效;三是兼收并蓄、跨界兼容,既要立足学院,也要跳出学院,重视校内校外教学科研、传统媒体、新媒体等多方合作,推进体制机制创新。此外,跨学科思维对于研究和解决国际传播问题至关重要,要打好“工字牌”,坚持走交叉发展之路,不断用新成果为新闻传播学科赋能,为国际传播人才培养蓄势。 查看详细>>

日前,工业和信息化部公布第六批国家级工业设计中心名单并在第六届中国国际工业设计博览会期间举行授牌仪式。作为工业设计企业申报的哈尔滨工业大学城市规划设计研究院有限公司成功入选,成为黑龙江首批入选的国家级工业设计中心之一。据了解,国家级工业设计中心是经工业和信息化部认定,工业设计创新能力强、特色鲜明、管理规范、业绩突出的企业工业设计中心或工业设计企业,每两年认定一次,旨在引导行业设计创新,为产业战略转型升级提供支撑。此次入选国家级平台是我校整合黑龙江省工业设计中心、黑龙江省数字创意设计协同创新中心、黑龙江省数字创意设计研究学术交流基地、黑龙江省创新创意设计产业技术研究院等多个设计学学科平台,在合力推进设计学学科建设方面取得的重要成果。2019年以来,学校充分整合资源,以“大设计”理念推动学科交叉融合。2022年,工业设计、数字媒体艺术、环境设计3个专业入选第三批国家级一流本科专业建设点。2023年启动设计学博士学位授权点申报。下一步,学校将进一步整合设计学学科相关资源,持续推动学科交叉融合,积极对接市场需求,着力推动设计创新,为推动新时代东北全面振兴和黑龙江高质量发展、支撑中国式现代化建设作出新的更大贡献。 查看详细>>

Sergio Carbajo and Jun Chen,assistant professors at the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering,have received Young Investigator Program Awards from the Office of Naval Research.Since 2008,the award has supported early-career faculty members who show exceptional promise and creativity in their fields.Carbajo and Chen will each receive athree-year,$750,000 grant to support their research.They join 22 other recipients honored in the 2024 award cohort.Sergio Carbajo,an assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering,directs the Quantum Light-Matter Cooperative at UCLA.The award will help support his research in improving real-time control of lasers during unpredictable situations and their ability to compensate for atmospheric weather conditions using novel quantum sensing techniques.Jun Chen,an assistant professor of bioengineering,directs UCLA’s Wearable Bioelectronics Research Group.Chen’s research aims to improve wearable acoustic sensors,making them more flexible and practical for tactical communications.As an executive branch agency within the Department of Defense,the Office of Naval Research provides technical advice to the chief of naval operations and the secretary of the Navy.Recent UCLA Engineering recipients of the Young Investigator Awards include Xiang“Anthony”Chen and Kunihiko“Sam”Taira. 查看详细>>

Princeton University is expanding its commitment in quantum science and engineering research and education,with plans for anew building,a new graduate program,and abroader leadership structure for its initiative.These expanded programs,along with ongoing recruitment of top faculty,graduate students and postdoctoral researchers,reflect the University’s recognition of the transformative potential of quantum science and technology to benefit society in the decades ahead.The University established the Princeton Quantum Initiative in 2019 and named Andrew Houck,professor of electrical and computer engineering,as director.Now,as Princeton builds towards establishing apermanent institute for quantum science and engineering,as described in the trustees’recent strategic planning update,the initiative adds Ali Yazdani,the Class of 1909 Professor of Physics,as co-director alongside Houck.This endowment-enabled initiative will be guided by an executive committee of faculty from four departments across engineering and the natural sciences.The vision for the new institute is to bring together and support faculty and students across science and engineering who are pushing the boundaries of discovery around quantum information,particularly in the areas of quantum computing,communication,and sensing.“Quantum information continues to be an exciting area with deep,fundamental impacts on science and transformative technological possibilities,”Houck said.“Princeton is playing aleading role in this,and we are ramping up efforts across campus to remain the leading place in the world for this kind of science and engineering for many decades.”Yazdani added that Princeton’s work in this area stands apart from quantum research at other institutions due to the University’s inclusive approach across disciplines and across the spectrum from foundational science to innovative devices.“With this commitment to constructing abuilding to house the institute,we have the opportunity to coalesce research and teaching across many disciplines under one roof,”Yazdani said.“It allows us to build acohesive effort that has acore but touches many other areas of science and engineering.”The new building will be within easy reach of scholars in engineering,physics,and chemistry,Yazdani said.The initiative also benefits from agrowing number of collaborations with scientists at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory,a U.S.Department of Energy national laboratory managed by Princeton University,including work to design highly specialized materials such as diamonds and superconducting magnets that are needed for quantum experiments and technologies.The newly established executive committee includes Waseem Bakr,professor of physics;David Huse,the Cyrus Fogg Brackett Professor of Physics;Nathalie de Leon,associate professor of electrical and computer engineering;Ran Raz,professor of computer science;Leslie Schoop,associate professor of chemistry;and Jeff Thompson,associate professor of electrical and computer engineering. 查看详细>>

The University of Chicago will present an honorary degree to Joseph Neubauer,former chairman of the Board of Trustees,during its Convocation ceremony on June 3.Neubauer,MBA’65,will receive an honorary doctor of laws degree,in recognition of his extraordinary service to the University.At Convocation,UChicago also will confer honorary degrees upon five renowned scholars and will honor Chancellor Emeritus and President Emeritus Robert J.Zimmer for his leadership and service to the University.During his service as Board chair from 2015 to 2022,the University concluded The University of Chicago Campaign:Inquiry and Impact,the largest and most comprehensive campaign in its history.Neubauer continues to serve the University as amember of the Board,to which he was first elected in 1992,and is aLife Member of the Chicago Booth Council.Neubauer is the retired CEO and board chairman of Aramark,which under his leadership,grew into a$13 billion global services provider.Neubauer began his career at Chase Manhattan Bank,where at age 27,he became the youngest vice president its history.He went on to hold several senior positions with PepsiCo,Inc.before joining Aramark.He currently manages his family office,Next Egg Group.An active alum since his graduation from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business(now Chicago Booth),Neubauer’s involvement with the University is characterized by many years of distinguished service and philanthropic commitment.He and his wife,Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer,were awarded the University of Chicago Medal in 2013,which recognizes rare and distinguished service to the University.Together they support many areas of the University,including the Neubauer Collegium for Culture and Society,the Neubauer Family Assistant Professors Program,an endowed professorship at the Booth School of Business,the Adelante Scholars Program and the Booth Civic Scholars program. 查看详细>>
