Cambridge Consultants,part of Capgemini,have announced astratospheric breakthrough,revealing its role in avisionary program to realize the dream of superfast 5G for everyone and everything across the globe.Working in collaboration with Stratospheric Platforms Limited(SPL),Cambridge Consultants’remarkable technical achievement is awireless antenna unlike anything seen before,delivering affordable connectivity from afleet of zero emissions aircraft,airborne at an altitude of 20,000 meters for more than aweek.Operating at afraction of the cost of building and maintaining terrestrial infrastructure,and with minimal environmental impact due to its zero-emission hydrogen power system,such afleet could rewrite the economics of mobile broadband.With the proof of concept now complete,the ultimate antenna is set to be powerful,huge,and yet lightweight.At three meters square and weighing just 120kg,it will take flight to become what’s expected to be the world’s largest commercial airborne communications antenna. 查看详细>>

AVEVA,have announced the winners of its 2020 AVEVA Design Academic Competition.The competition series is part of AVEVA’s continued investment in creating better opportunities for those entering the industry.It was open to chemical engineering students in EMEA and North America keen to challenge themselves using AVEVA Process Simulation software.AVEVA’s competition series is designed to offer chemical engineering students aunique opportunity to develop their process simulation skills.Students were judged on anumber of criteria including the quality,completeness and correctness of their final report,as well as their process engineering and simulation work.Students were asked to convert their projects to dynamic models that represented how an industrial plant reacts to changes in inputs.They were also challenged to develop and implement troubleshooting measures,possibly including anew controller design.North American winners Nicholas Haynes and Brian Leonard won with their use of fundamental chemical engineering principles to produce 99%pure Benzene,a cleaner version of the hydrocarbon used in the manufacturing of several materials and plastics.Nicholas and Brian successfully employed an optimization approach that displayed the understanding of the cost implications of the entire process while also prioritizing the purity requirements for the Benzene product.They also displayed outstanding technical writing skills that are required of graduating engineers entering the industry and furnished ahigh-quality report that would meet the standards of aprofessional engineering organization.European winner Laura Fender was recognized for her simulation requirements working in aneat and well-organized flowsheet.She experimented with the software by approaching the model writing functionality,showing deep understanding of how asimulation problem with different levels of complexity can be approached. 查看详细>>

Breakthrough innovation specialist Cambridge Consultants today announced that it has joined the Kyōsō-no-Mori Partnership Program(“Partnership Program”),an ambitious new framework under the Kyōsō-no-Mori initiative launched on 11th April 2019 at the Central Research Laboratory by the Research&Development Group of Hitachi,Ltd.Kyōsō-no-Mori,which means co-innovation forest in Japanese,embodies Hitachi’s vision“to deliver innovations that answer society’s challenges”by accelerating innovation through open collaborative creation and realize ahuman-centric sustainable society.The project selected by Cambridge Consultants will investigate the applications and business models for applying synthetic biology to address the global challenge of plastic waste.The unprecedented spotlight on the environmental damage caused by plastics is driving businesses to consider the full lifecycle impact of products,processes and packaging.Cambridge Consultants has along-established research programme that aims both to introduce sustainable bioplastics into the product design toolkit and to harness the tools of synthetic biology to speed the decomposition of plastic waste.Hitachi too has been investigating the application of synthetic biology to tackle the issue.Under the Partnership Program,Cambridge Consultants and Hitachi will study the business case together,applying technology from both companies in an initial three-month phase. 查看详细>>
