A new multimillion pound research institute that will maximise Manchester’s academic strengths in digital health and advanced materials to discover innovative health and care solutions is being launched by aconsortium,led by The University of Manchester.The centre is called The Christabel Pankhurst Institute for Health Technology and Innovation*and is part of an ambitious plan set out in the Greater Manchester(GM)Local Industrial Strategy to boost the city-region’s provision in this area.It is being launched following a£5million award from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s(GMCA)Local Growth Fund.The consortium is made up of the University,Manchester Science Partnerships(MSP),Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust(MFT),and Health Innovation Manchester(HInM).The initiative will build on investments from the University,MSP,the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council(EPSRC),and The Alan Turing Institute,creating atotal budget of more than£25m.The aim of the collaboration is to capitalise on the University’s strengths in digital health and advanced materials and develop innovative products and services for the health care sector.In turn this will drive business growth and employment as well as boost the long-term health benefits of the city region as well as. 查看详细>>

Manchester’s leading health innovation campus,Citylabs,is set to expand again following high levels of demand as it continues to grow its presence as an international hub for genomics and precision medicine.Manchester Science Partnerships(MSP)and Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust(MFT)have unveiled plans to develop Citylabs 4.0,a new£35 million development which will grow the existing Citylabs campus by 125,000 sq ft.The Joint Venture partnership between MSP and MFT,the UK‘s largest NHS provider Trust,is the first of its kind,with the first phase-Citylabs 1.0-already home to athriving cluster of diagnostics,medtech,digital health and genomics businesses who are driving the future of medicine and healthcare.The new development represents another step forward for Manchester’s Oxford Road Corridor innovation district,Europe’s largest clinical academic campus and one of the North of England’s most important commercial areas,generating around£3bn in GVA each year.Subject to planning approval by Manchester City Council,Citylabs 4.0 will be built at the south of the MFT Oxford Road campus,adjacent to Citylabs 2.0&3.0,and provide 7floors of office and lab space where brilliant research will be translated into new healthcare diagnostics and treatments which can then be quickly adopted into Manchester’s health system. 查看详细>>

Plans have been announced for the next phase of the masterplan at Manchester Science Park which includes the development of anew building that will expand and enhance the facilities on offer for highly-innovative companies working across computer engineering,energy technology,light manufacturing and materials science.Manchester Science Partnerships(MSP)is re-developing the Base building to provide 80,000 sq ft of world-leading,purpose-built space to address the industry-specific needs of these sectors,following the successful development of the Bright Building which is fully let to 24 digital technology businesses.The announcement comes as the updated Manchester Science Park Strategic Regeneration Framework masterplan was endorsement by the City Council earlier this month.Designed by Russell Bridge architects and set over five floors in the heart of Manchester’s Oxford Road Corridor innovation district,companies will be able to access adedicated MakerSpace on the ground floor with workshop space to produce prototypes or modify existing products,along with awelcome lounge,break-out spaces and informal meeting spaces. 查看详细>>
